Raising money

  • CASCO, the Telfer School’s student charity organization, raised $29,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario at the group’s twelfth annual gala. Attended by hundreds of businesspeople, local leaders and Telfer School students and faculty members, the enormously popular celebration featured a three-course meal, silent and live auctions, and a high-energy dance and musical performance.

    12th Annual CASCO Charity Event

  • A team of Telfer EMBA students and alumni raised some $10,000 by participating in the tenth annual 24h Tremblant, the largest fundraising ski event in Eastern North America.
  • Four Telfer School students—Josée Archambault, Dmitry Berlin, Sarah Clayton and Steve Nyenkamp—raised more than $9,500 for Operation Come Home, a local charity that helps young homeless people. The five’s remarkable fundraising achievement was part of 5 Days for the Homeless, a charity campaign in which university students live "homeless" on campus to raise money and create greater awareness of homelessness.

Finding answers

  • Five Telfer MBA students joined forces to prepare an official response to the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy consultation paper. Overall, the students gave the federal strategy passing marks: great goals and objectives. Yet the strategy has some drawbacks: linkages to implementation are unclear, and efforts to develop better tracking metrics and indicators were probably insufficient.
