Welcome to Your New Home:
The Grand Opening of the New Centre for Executive Leadership Location
2017 is a special year in the history of Canada and was also a significant milestone in the life of the Telfer School as we celebrate Telfer at 10. In 2007, Ian Telfer’s gift gave our school its distinctive name and a solid financial foundation on which to build an exceptional learning and research institution.
It was also 25 years ago that Executive MBA program first began in the World Exchange Plaza. The facility was named to the Centre for Executive Leadership in 2007 as the portfolio of programs offered in the facility expanded to include Telfer Executive Programs.
The official Grand Opening of the Centre was held on Tuesday October 3, 2017. The Inuksuk, the first gift presented to the Telfer Executive MBA that began a tradition in 1994, was unveiled in its’ new location by the Dean of the Telfer School, Francois Julien, along with Directors Sophia Leong, Glen Orsak and Jocelyn Turgeon.
The Inuksuk will provide a symbolic navigational point, as it was often used by the Inuit people, within the Centre to invite alumni and community to their 'new home' at 99 Bank Street.
Along with the Inuksuk and 25 years of gifts presented to the Telfer Executive MBA, another historic item was on display. A guest book original used in the 1992 opening at 45 O'Connor Street, and within the book was a letter from Canada's 18th Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney, congratulating the Faculty of Administration at the time of the original opening. Guests commemorated the 2017 opening by signing the book, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also sent his best wishes through a letter thanking the "staff, students and alumni that have helped make this new centre a reality." The letter will be added to the book.
Thank you to alumni, clients, candidates, professors, and extended Telfer School of Management community who joined the event and the provided warm welcome to our new facility. We look forward to creating many new relationships and memories in this new space.
