Thinking back to your childhood, was there a particular profession you dreamed of entering when you were an adult?

Having struggled with what I perceived were global unfair living conditions during my childhood, I vowed to work hard so that one day I would be in a position where I can lead positive changes and make a real impact on the lives of less fortunate people.  While I have not fully achieved this childhood goal, I have not given up.  I feel a strong sense of duty to do something about the inequalities of this world. Given such an ambitious goal, I must admit, I have been very fortunate in my career. Being in the field of technology enables me to have a positive impact on a large number of people. Technology companies are increasingly coming up with innovative ways to rapidly close the inequality gap.  My career in this field empowers me to achieve my childhood goals. How lucky is that?

What would you say was the turning point in choosing the Telfer Executive MBA?

I felt I had hit my maximum potential from a career perspective.  Upon completing a self-evaluation of my employment, life goals and ambitions, I came to the realization that I needed to expand my skills if I wanted to continue progressing in my career. It was during a meeting that I heard about the Telfer Executive MBA as the supplier I was meeting happened to be an alumni of the program.  These events were a critical point in my journey to choosing this path. I decided to take a leap of faith after a thoroughly researching the program online as well as meeting faculty members of the Telfer Executive MBA. My assessment on the Telfer Executive MBA program convinced me that it would be the right mix of emotional intelligence, academics, leadership and practical application through the Signature Series of Six Business Consulting Projects that would propel me as I move forward in my career.

What do you admire in a leader or mentor? Do you have someone who you consider a strong leader or mentor within your life?

I have been fortunate in my career for the opportunity to have worked with a number of highly effective leaders.  As such, I have experienced different styles of leadership and appreciate the qualities of a good leader.   The leaders who were most compelling to me were the ones whom led by example, were authentic, fair, considerate and smart.  These leaders were skillful at developing individuals to fulfill their potential and maximize their individual growth.

I am grateful that I currently work for a great leader whom I consider a mentor.  We don’t always see eye-to-eye on every issue and we certainly appreciate where each one stands on any given problem. The only drawback of having worked with such great leaders in my career is the fact that it has set the very high for me in terms of my leadership aspirations.

The Telfer Executive MBA pushes you to new limits in a protected team environment. The result is a newly found, greater sense of confidence, both personally and professionally.
