Guests for Lima Session_January 30,2015

The Class of 2015 moved one step closer in their preparations for to their trip to Lima, Peru on Friday January 30th.

The Program welcomed select alumni with experience in Latin America as well as members of the Peruvian Embassy in Ottawa into the classroom to provide insights to the Class of 2015 on the Peruvian culture.

The session answered questions candidates had about challenges for Canadian's doing business in Lima including expectations, etiquette, traffic, and business acumen.

A key message coming away from the session was that viable opportunities certainly exist between Peru and Canada. One piece of advice from Edgar Mendoza  'Face the barriers [which you encounter] as challenges and opportunities. As a manager it is your job to overcome challenges - every country has it's challenges. If you do not think it possible to do business [because of these barriers], then how are the other companies overcoming these challenges and proven successful within the Peruvian market."

Candidates walked away with a sense of excitement and an even more positive outlook on their upcoming consulting trip to Lima in April.

Sophia Leong with Chef JorgeThe food was also a factor in spicing up the facility on a cold Canadian winter day. Candidates enjoyed a Peruvian meal prior to the session. Skillfully crafted and catered by Chef Jorge Bahamonde of Petit Peru, candidates were treated to beef empanadas, chicken tamal, lomo saltado, and rotisserie chicken - Peruvian style.
