Place à la jeunesse 2007

OTTAWA, November 25, 2007 – More than 100 students from Ontario French-language high schools took part in the Place à la Jeunesse academic challenge, a business, marketing and accounting case-study competition organized by the UOttawa Jeux du Commerce. The finals took place on November 24 at the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management. Members of the winning team each receive a $5,000 scholarship at the University of Ottawa; second-place team members win a $1,000 scholarship, and third place, $500.

Place à la Jeunesse is a uOttawa Jeux du Commerce initiative that began in 2004, in the National Capital Region. The format is identical to the Jeux du Commerce, a university business case competition. Each team receives a case study that describes a concrete problem, encountered or likely to be encountered in the business world. Teams have three hours to analyze the case, produce recommendations and prepare a 15-minute presentation. The quality of the recommendations and presentations is evaluated by a jury composed of representatives of business and the University. One of the event’s charms is pairing each team in the finals with a student at the Telfer School of Management. The student plays the role of trainer in the strategy room and a unique educational exchange results.
