Eligible students looking to transfer to Telfer’s BCom may do so by submitting their application for admission on the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre website: https://www.ouac.on.ca/.

Admitted students are given advanced standing for their course work if their performance and the course content have been judged to be appropriate for the program. It is the applicants’ responsibility to provide all documents to allow for a complete evaluation of the courses taken elsewhere. Please note that no advanced standing will be granted for courses completed more than eight (8) years ago for Bachelor of Commerce students and six (6) years for Certificate students.

To obtain a degree from the University of Ottawa, a student must complete at least 50% of the units of their program at the University of Ottawa and must meet all the specific requirements of their program. This condition limits the maximum number of units of advanced standing that can be awarded.

If you have completed at least two years of full-time study in the same Canadian college program, you might be granted some advanced standing upon admission.

You can also apply to the University of Ottawa after one year of college. However, we will not grant you any advanced standing.

Please check below for more information regarding the admission and potential advanced standing for college transfer students.

College of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) diploma

If you are an Ontario college student interested in transferring, you may wish to consult the Ontario College University Transfer Guide.

In 2014, we created a program for college transfer students, in partnership with colleges in Ontario, with the goal to streamline their admission to our BCom program and formalize their advanced standing.

The agreement for college transfers is a blanket model that is not a course-by-course match. The number of advanced standing and the specific courses granted in advanced standing is granted based on the length of program and field of study.

Transfer students receive 45 units of advanced standing for a College of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) 3-year diploma in business, 30 units of advanced standing for a CAAT 2-year diploma in business and 15 units of advanced standing for a CAAT 2‑ or 3‑year non-business diploma, as shown below:
