Startup Weekend is a non-profit organization headquartered in Seattle, Washington that brings people together for weekend-long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.
All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: participants are welcome to pitch their startup idea in the hope of forming a team, or simply come prepared to join a team. By the end of the Friday night, teams will have formed around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekend will culminate in presentations to a group of local entrepreneurial leaders for an opportunity to win prizes and receive critical feedback. Our objective for this exclusive edition of Startup Weekend is to connect students across all faculties to encourage and promote entrepreneurship regardless of discipline of study.
The following prizes are available:
Overall prize package
The overall winner will receive $1,000 cash and 3 months of co-working space over the summer at Invest Ottawa's Disruption Factory located within the Innovation Centre Bayview Yards (ICBY).
