Entrepreneurship Bridges is a series of five free events that promote entrepreneurism, provide start up and new venture advice and access to a community of entrepreneurs. The program is a joint initiative between the University of Ottawa’s Entrepreneurship Hub, the Faculty of Engineering, Start up Garage, the Entrepreneur’s Club and the Telfer School of Management.
Guest Speakers: Vincent and François Thériault - Co-founders and Co-CEOs, Surmesur
As Co-CEO in charge of supply chain and logistics at Surmesur, François Thériault constantly seeks out new opportunities to enhance the client experience, from the choice of fabrics to how the finished product is delivered.
He was inspired to co-found Surmesur with his brother, Vincent, when their world travels revealed the potential to offer a new way for men to shop, with more and better options to create truly unique products.
François stresses the importance of providing a personalized, “human” experience throughout the creative process, a key component of the company’s success.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from Greensboro College in North Carolina.
Vincent Thériault is a passionate entrepreneur whose main motivation is to do things differently. The Surmesur concept is proof that he is not afraid to walk the unbeaten path.
Since creating Surmesur in 2010 with his brother, François, he has enjoyed exploring new facets of entrepreneurship while wearing several hats in management, design and marketing.
Vincent is actively involved in his local Chamber of Commerce, mentors university and college students to achieve success in their entrepreneurial projects, and is a frequent conference speaker. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Université Laval.
National Bank Elevator Pitch Competition
The National Bank Elevator Pitch Competition showcases some of the University of Ottawa’s top talent. As a part of Global Entrepreneurship week, this competition allows young entrepreneurs to present their business ideas that are still in the early stages of development to a panel of judges and Rise to the Top. The winners are awarded with a generous cash prize that they can put towards furthering their business idea. The evening also includes a catered networking portion as well as a keynote speaker that shares their personal successes and struggles as an entrepreneur. This year we plan on making the competition the most competitive to date.
Unfortunately, the RSVP deadline has passed for this event, and you will not be able to register.
