Brian Malcolmson brings to the Master of Health administration over 30 years of management experience in the health care field, most recently as Associate Vice-President of University Affairs at Hopital Montfort. His background includes senior management in hospital administration (former Riverside Hospital of Ottawa), health service management consulting (CGO Montreal), provincial government health services administration (Ontario and Manitoba health ministries) and community health services planning (Ottawa).
A University of Ottawa MHA graduate himself, Brian Malcolmson has maintained close linkages with the program throughout his career, as a preceptor for many students, a part-time professor and a class presenter. As former President of the 1,500 member University of Ottawa MHA Alumni Association, Brian initiated a professional development partnership with the Eastern Ontario Chapter of the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
Brian joined the Telfer School as an Executive in Residence in May 2010, assuming the position of MHA Program Director in September 2010. In this role, he is committed to recruiting into the program the best possible students to assume future leadership roles, and to further development of the program in areas such as international health and human resources for health. Brian is bilingual and seeks to create French language education opportunities.
