Stephen Daze

Stephen Daze, the Founder of Agawa Entrepreneurship Development Corporation and the former Managing Director of Entrepreneurship and Talent activities at the Ottawa Centre for Regional Innovation, is joining the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa as an Entrepreneur in Residence.

Mr. Daze has been recognized for his volunteer work with organizations such as Junior Achievement, the University of Ottawa and the Chamber of Commerce. He is the past Chair of the Telfer School of Management’s Career Centre Advisory Board, the Ottawa Chair of the Manning Innovation Awards and was a long time Board Member with the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce (2006 - 2009).  Stephen graduated from the University of Regina’s business school as well as Saint Francis Xavier’s Adult Education Certificate program.

“I’m excited to be working with the Telfer School to enhance their already strong brand by building capacity and coordinating support to student entrepreneurs who will then go on to have a positive impact on the economy in the National Capital Region” said Stephen Daze.

Stephen starting teaching entrepreneurship as a part-time professor at the Telfer School in 2001 and will continue to do so as part of his new mandate. He will also work on strategy and program planning to build entrepreneurship capacity and support, provide counsel to students and faculty on business planning and business start-up issues, and work with the community to bolster support for the school’s entrepreneurship activities.

“We have been engaged with Stephen Daze on a number of projects over the years and we are delighted that he joins us now as our Entrepreneur in Residence” said François Julien, Dean of the Telfer School of Management. “We look forward to working together to continue to develop entrepreneurship and innovation as a strategic area of development for the school.”

Stephen Daze replaces Bruce Firestone who had joined the Telfer School of Management in 2006 as its first Entrepreneur in Residence. With his mandate completed in 2012, Dr. Firestone will continue to act as an Entrepreneurship Ambassador for the Telfer School.

Executives in Residence are successful professionals who either divide their time between their professional careers and their role at the Telfer School of Management or are on campus on a full time basis. The function of an Executive in Residence varies based on the individual, from teaching, and alumni relations to program management and speaking engagements.
