Senior Analysts Program
The Senior Analyst Program will help you develop financial analysis skills and expertise that a government policy analyst requires to understand the environment in which private sector firms operate. The program addresses:

This program is offered bilingually. All materials will be available to participants in both English and French. Teaching will be done in English but the opportunity to discuss in French is available throughout the 2 days.

Who Should Attend
The program is designed for Senior Analysts in federal government departments who require a deeper understanding of financial analysis and factors impacting corporate financial performance. These skills should assist Senior Analysts in evaluating the impact of current or proposed policies and programs on individual firms or groups of firms. Enrolled participants should have a basic knowledge of accounting terminology; balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement; and financial statement ratios.

What You Will Learn
The Program uses a mix of theory and hands-on exercises to build your competencies to better analyze and understand the financial factors and competitive circumstances which influence strategy, decision-making and the execution of the corporate business plan. The Program also addresses differences associated with various industry sectors, based largely on publicly available financial information for Canadian publicly traded companies.
- Learn how to analyze financial and competitive circumstances affecting companies or industry sectors
- Appreciate why different types of financial circumstances may be appropriate given the industry sector, size of the company and its stage of development
- Create greater awareness of the environment which affects corporate decision-making and plans
- Analyze the potential impact of government programs and initiatives on specific companies or industry sectors
