Titulaire d’une chaire de recherche de l’Université sur l’informatique de la santé et l’aide à la décision médicale, Wojtek Michalowski enseigne les sciences de la décision et de la gestion à l’École de gestion Telfer. Membre fondateur du Decision Analysis Lab (DAL), il est professeur auxiliaire de recherche à l’école de gestion Eric Sprott de l’Université Carleton. Pendant l’année universitaire 1997-1998, il a été chercheur en chef à l'Institut international pour l'analyse des systèmes appliqués.
M. Michalowski fait partie de plusieurs comités de rédaction et a présidé pendant quelques années le comité des prix de l’International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making. Il s’intéresse à l’analyse décisionnelle, à la programmation linéaire à objectifs multiples, à la prise de décisions médicales, à la gestion des services de santé, aux modèles ontologiques et à la théorie des ensembles approximatifs. Il a signé plus de 60 articles révisés par un comité de lecture et publié des articles dans une trentaine de revues, dont Management Science, Naval Research Logistics, Operations Research, le Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics, IEEE Expert, Decision Support Systems and Electronic Commerce, le European Journal of Operational Research et Methods of Information in Medicine.
M. Michalowski est actuellement le chercheur principal d’un programme de recherche financé par le CRSNG visant à mettre au point des systèmes de soutien au triage clinique pour les applications multiplateformes, y compris les dispositifs mobiles.
