Notice biographique

M. Umar Ruhi a obtenu son doctorat en systèmes d’information (avec mineure en science de la gestion) de l’École de commerce DeGroote de l’Université McMaster. Il avait auparavant obtenu, de la même université, une maîtrise en administration des affaires avec double concentration en commerce électronique et en gestion des connaissances stratégiques, et de l’Université de Toronto, un baccalauréat ès sciences en informatique. M. Ruhi donne plusieurs cours de premier ainsi que de deuxième et de troisième cycles en systèmes d’information de gestion et en commerce électronique. Il enseigne en outre au programme interdisciplinaire d’études supérieures de l’Université en technologies du commerce électronique.

Umar Ruhi s’intéresse aux systèmes d’information et à la gestion de la connaissance. La plupart de ses projets de recherche empirique reposent sur une perspective multidisciplinaire s’appuyant sur le milieu de l’informatique sociale. Ses travaux actuels et passés comprennent des études empiriques sur l’adoption de portails de cybergouvernement, les pratiques de gestion de la connaissance et de l’information dans les organismes en transformation, le rôle des TIC de l’informatique sociale dans la gestion efficace du savoir, les principes directeurs de l’analytique des médias sociaux et les principaux facteurs de succès d’une veille économique constante.

M. Ruhi a participé, à titre d’expert-conseil et d’analyste, à des initiatives liées aux communautés virtuelles, aux portails de cybergouvernement, à la conception de l’expérience utilisateur, à la mise au point de produits électroniques conviviaux, à la cyberanalytique et aux méthodes de gestion de la connaissance. Avant de se joindre au milieu universitaire, il a travaillé comme conseiller en gestion dans des domaines aussi variés que la planification stratégique et opérationelle et le déploiement d’une technologie multisite pour différentes entreprises de commerce électronique.
