MBA Case Competition

Connect to Competitions

Being connected with what matters means putting your skills and knowledge to the test—and our school’s reputation on the line—against students from other business schools on the national and international stage.

Compete against students from every continent

Telfer MBA students do just that every year at the John Molson School of Business MBA International Case Competition. Telfer MBA students have competed in this case competition since it began in 1982. Today, the competition has grown to include students from some 40 schools from every continent.

The weeklong case competition is a round-robin tournament in which students on each team use what they have learned through their school curriculum to analyze, evaluate and create solutions for five unpublished business cases.

The final product for each case is an MS PowerPoint presentation in which students show their ability to dig deep into each problem and come up with a creative, practical solution. More than 250 senior business executives sit as competition judges. Nine teams advance from the round‑robin tournament for the opportunity to compete in playoff rounds for cash prizes, with $10,000 going to the winner.

Competitions for everyone

Telfer MBA students also participate in many smaller, often specialized case competitions. In recent years, students have competed in the TATA Cup, Sustainability Challenge and Grand Business Challenge in Digital Health.
