Telfer Health Transformation Exchange presents: Senator Kelvin Ogilvie
Tuesday, October 3, 2017
5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
About the Presentation
The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology in 2012 produced an in-depth study on the progress of the 2004 Health Accord titled “Time for Transformative Change.” Conservative Senator Kelvin Ogilvie, Chair of that Committee, now states that transformative change has not occurred and the “system” is entering a crisis phase.
In spite of world leading medical researchers, highly trained, skilled and dedicated health care workers, Canada’s health care delivery is failing Canadians as it operates on a bureaucratic model serving accountants and not Canadians in need of timely care. As the Senate Report noted, it is a system of silos incapable of treating the whole patient health needs in a timely fashion. Canadians deserve a better system.
