La première conférence commémorative John de la Mothe a eu lieu en 2008 en l'honneur de John de la Mothe, professeur à l'École de gestion Telfer pendant 15 ans jusqu'à son décès en 2007. Chercheur reconnu à l'international et titulaire de la Chaire de recherche du Canada en innovation stratégique, John a fait de nombreuses et importantes contributions dans le domaine de l'innovation, tant sur le plan de la recherche que sur le développement de politiques.

Second, a local economy’s dynamism depends on the capacity of local firms to innovate.

(En anglais seulement.) Everyone seems to agree that we live in a “knowledge society” with a “knowledge economy” engine. Over the last 50 years, we have moved from ‘science policies’ to ‘technology policies’ and then to ‘innovation policies’. The tendency nevertheless remains to construct science and innovation policy discourses based on the latest fads and buzzwords. In other words, policies for science rarely use evidence-based conclusions from empirical analysis of the current dynamics of the Canadian research system.
